Psoriasis Treatment

Psoriasis is a skin disease which severely affects skin and joints. Generally, patient suffering from this disease have red scaly patches over the skin, these patches are known as plaques. Excessive cell production on the psoriasis affected area is the cause of plaque generation and inflammation. Sometime the plaque also acquires slivery-white appearance. Psoriasis can be localized or it can cover whole body according to the severity of disease. Psoriasis has affected the human beings for very long time; though earlier it was believed to be a type of leprosy.

An exact cause for Psoriasis is not known. It is believed that Psoriasis affects the body because of malfunctioning of the immune-system. Several factors can lead to Psoriasis like stress, depression, consumption of alcohol amongst others. Psoriasis is recurring and chronic in nature. This poses great difficultly in invention of a better treatment for Psoriasis.

Psoriasis has various types which include Plaque Psoriasis, Guttate Psoriasis, Nail Psoriasis Erythrodermic Psoriasis and Flexural Psoriasis. But, most common and most frequently affecting psoriasis is Plaque Psoriasis. This affects about 85% people suffering from psoriasis. Diagnosis of psoriasis generally begins with appearance of the skin; sometime biopsy is also needed for its diagnosis.

There is no exact medical remedy for this disease. Many techniques are adopted for psoriasis treatment. Oral medication ointment application and use of ultra violent rays over the affect area are some of the methods adopted by the dermatologist. The methods which are generally applied can be classified into following categories:-

• Topical Treatment

• Phototherapy

• Photo chemotherapy

• Systemic Treatment

• Alternative methods

Under topical treatment psoriasis is generally cured with the help of bath in a solution of moisturizer which preserves psoriasis affected areas from dryness. Ointment and creams containing moisturizing substances are part of this treatment.

Regular contact with moderate sunlight can also produce a healing effect for psoriasis. Sunlight contains ultraviolet rays which have property to heal psoriasis affected cells but excess of sunlight can be dangerous. This method of Psoriasis treatment is known as phototherapy.

The combination of Psoralen (a natural substance used for curing skin diseases) and ultraviolet is also used for curing Psoriasis. Psoralen is given either orally or directly applied on affect spots. This can block rapid growth of psoriasis. The method is known as Photo Chemotherapy.

Systemic treatment of the psoriasis includes all above described methods. Selection of particular technique at a particular moment is depends on doctor’s discretion. Systemic treatment of psoriasis requires great skill of the doctor. Most the people operated by this technique get rid of recurrence of the disease.

Medication in the case of psoriasis should be taken with the great care as many medicines can produce toxic effect. Doctor’s advice for starting treatment psoriasis is compulsory.

There are some alternative ways for the treatment of psoriasis like use of antibiotic, fish therapy, herbal methods but effectiveness of these methods is not completely established.

An Effective New Psoriasis Treatment Method You Can Try Now!

Often times when you are searching for a New Psoriasis Treatment you will come across news articles speaking of the latest clinical trials for a drug to treat psoriasis. You hear how in case studies they are having a significant effect on 75% of people with moderate to severe cases of psoriasis and that all that’s left is for the New Psoriasis Treatment to get FDA approval. The thing these articles don’t mention is there are PLENTY of treatment methods available today which work and work well! Sure, not every psoriasis treatment is going to be 100% effective for everyone, different products work for different people, however there are still many highly successful products to choose from online.

The point I’m trying to get across here is instead of waiting for a New Psoriasis Treatment to be revealed, get to work in testing out various psoriasis treatment methods and find the one that works best for you NOW.

Now I’m sure while researching New Psoriasis Treatment methods you’ve heard of the Dead Sea. It is a closed off sea 1,200 feet below sea level and is the lowest point on Earth. The water here has an extremely high salt content, 33%, which is pretty high considering the oceans are a mere 3%. This high salt and mineral content in combination with the hot and humid atmosphere is said to provide many natural healing benefits. In fact, people with psoriasis come from all over the world just to bathe in these waters 30 minutes at a time twice a day!

One interesting thing to note is that according to studies, about 80-90% of those who visited the Dead Sea to receive psoriasis treatments at the Dead Sea have seen their psoriasis symptoms improve significantly or even clear up. According to a study of 75 people who bathed in the Dead Sea for a period of 4 weeks, 68% were still in remission after 4 months, 43% after 6 months and 10% after 8 months.

If you don’t have the cash to afford regular trips to the Dead Sea all hope is not lost. There is a New Psoriasis Treatment out which is based on the healing properties of the salts, minerals and mud from the Dead Sea itself, it’s the next best thing to traveling to Israel.

Cleopatra’s Choice has a great Dead Sea “Psoriasis Serious Relief Package” available which is highly effective. It comes with:

10 pounds of Dead Sea bath salts, which will last you a good number of baths.

Dead Sea Black Mud Soap, great to use on a daily basis for washing your hands and body.

A Face and Body Treatment Cream to use specifically for strong outbreaks.

A Dead Sea Salt Scrub for exfoliating which removes dead skin cells and opens your pores up.

A Mineral Body Lotion to use after you’ve showered to keep you moisturized for the day

If you haven’t yet found a product that works for you, I highly recommend you try this New Psoriasis Treatment before anything else. It is a great daily regimen to be on to manage and reduce your psoriasis symptoms.

Psoriasis Treatment: Understanding Your Options

It is vital that you seek an appropriate psoriasis treatment if you have this condition. In severe cases, your joints can become inflamed, which can then result in arthritis. Psoriasis can also cause you to feel depressed. It is a type of skin inflammation that can disable you and affect your quality of life. Symptoms of psoriasis on the skin include widespread redness, severe itching and pain. To know if you suffer from psoriasis or not, you will need to seek a skin specialist for a proper diagnosis.

Unfortunately there is no known cure for psoriasis. Most often the short-term treatments available for this disease centre on the use of drugs. These treatments tend to only clear up your psoriasis for a short period of time. You may also find that you respond differently as compared to other patients in any given treatment.

Other than the use of drugs, a natural psoriasis treatment can also be used. However, as there are all kinds of different treatments, you may wonder which one actually works. Of course, all of these treatments have pros and cons, so it is best to ask your doctor for some help and guidance in getting a suitable psoriasis treatment.

The 3 main types of treatment for psoriasis include:

1. Topical treatments can be applied to your skin if you have a mild to moderate case of psoriasis.

2. Photo treatments are used if you have a moderate to severe cases of psoriasis. This includes light, usually ultraviolet light, being applied to your skin.

3. Systemic treatments are available if you have a moderate to disabling form of psoriasis. This treatment is taken either orally, by injection or by infusion. One such product is Theraflax. While this may help you, the effects are still random.

4. A new alternative psoriasis treatment is with the use of a fish known as Doctor fish or Garra rufa. This is a type of fish that live and breed in outdoor pools of some Turkish spas. Interestingly, they are also found in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore. The fish is known to feed upon your skin wherever psoriasis is present. It eats only the dead skin, while allowing your healthy skin to continue to grow. You should know that some patients have reported success with this alternative psoriasis treatment method.

Until the past 10 years, psoriasis was largely an under-researched condition. With little statistical studies done, there is not enough knowledge about it. You can imagine that this limited knowledge will have an impact on finding a real cure or treatment to psoriasis. What is known is that research experts have discovered that psoriasis is somewhat genetic, and usually affecting those who are between 15 and 35 years old. For some reason, Caucasians are also found to be more susceptible to it.

Drinking Water to Help Relieve Psoriasis

There are a number of different skin problems of people have to deal with and you would probably be surprised with the number of them that are silently suffering from things such as psoriasis. Although in some cases, psoriasis is difficult to hide because it is visible on parts of the skin that everyone can see, there are other times whenever an individual may have the psoriasis other areas of their body where it is not visible, such as on the back or even on the scalp. Although there are a number of different ways that psoriasis is treated naturally, one of the ways that many people have claimed to have success is through drinking water.

Although it may come as a bit of a surprise to you that drinking water may be able to cure psoriasis, the simple fact of the matter is that all of us tend to be dehydrated and this can cause a number of different health issues. The human body is made up of over 90% water and it is in almost all of our cells and is an integral part of the human physique. It only stands to reason that by depriving ourselves of this substance, we are also depriving ourselves of the opportunity to have radiant health. Of course, drinking water in the proper way is necessary in order for you to make sure that you are as hydrated as possible.

Typically, people that are needing to hydrate themselves will need to follow something that is known as the water cure. The formula for doing the water cure is fairly simple, drank half of your body weight every day in ounces of water. So, for example, an individual that weighed 200 pounds would end up having to drink 100 ounces of water every day, all throughout the day. You also want to make sure that every time you do drink some water through the day that you are taking a little bit of natural sea salt in order to allow the water to stay in your body and to do its healing work.

One of the nice things about the water cure is the fact that it typically does not take long for you to begin to recognize differences in the way that you look and in the way that you feel. If you are currently dealing with psoriasis, try starting the water cure today and you may find that you are feeling better tomorrow.

Psoriasis is a prolonged inflammation of skin. The causes of psoriasis are still unclear. This condition is neither infectious (Do not spread from one person to another) nor does it affect the general health. It affects both the genders and may start at any age.

Psoriasis is quite common, affecting around two per cent of the population, although people with very mild symptoms may not be aware they have it. Psoriasis can begin at any age but usually starts either around the age of 20 or between 50 and 60.

Causes of Psoriasis

As said earlier according to modern medical science the causes of psoriasis are unknown .But the following factors can trigger psoriasis.

1.Heredity – If one parent is affected then there is 15% of chances for the child to suffer from psoriasis. If both the parents are affected then the possibility of child getting the psoriasis is 60%.

2.Throat infections trigger psoriasis.

3.Trauma or hurt on skin like cuts, bruises or burns may cause psoriasis.

4.Some medicines or skin irritants initiate psoriasis.

5.Smoking and alcohol are other two factors which activate psoriasis.

6.Mental stress or psychological trauma may also set off psoriasis

What does ayurveda say about psoriasis?

Psoriasis is caused by vitiation of vata and kapha dosha. The vitiated doshas affect the skin and blood tissues. They also influence water element of the affected region on skin. Thus the skin which is influenced by affected doshas becomes discolored (white or copper colored), scaly and thin.

Causes of vitiation of Doshas

1.Consuming opposite foods.

2.Controlling natural urges.

3.Exposure to severe climatic conditions

4.Consuming food that is too salty, too sour and/or too heavy for digestion.

5.Sleeping during the afternoon.

6.Taking bath in cold water immediately after physical exertion.

PSORIASIS is a chronic, non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints, characterized by flaking, redness and inflammation of the skin. Once thought to be a skin disorder, psoriasis is now understood to be a condition originating in the immune system.

The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees, but can affect any area including the scalp and ********. In contrast to eczema, psoriasis is more likely to be found on the extensor aspect of the joint.

The disorder is a chronic recurring condition which varies in severity from minor localized patches to complete body coverage. Fingernails and toenails are frequently affected (psoriatic nail dystrophy) – and can be seen as an isolated finding. Psoriasis can also cause inflammation of the joints, which is known as psoriatic arthritis. Ten to fifteen percent of people with psoriasis have psoriatic arthritis.

The cause of psoriasis starts with the immune system. T cells, a type of white blood cell, usually protect the body against infection and disease by attacking bacteria and viruses. However, when you have psoriasis, your T cells mistakenly attack your skin cells instead. Your body then produces other immune system responses, leading to swelling and rapid production of skin cells. Psoriasis tends to run in families and it usually appears between the ages of 10 and 45.

Psoriasis is an inherited disease. However there are certain triggering factors such as injury to the skin, vaccinations and certain medications that have been responsible for the development of this condition. It usually takes about a month for new cells to move from the lower layers of the skin to the surface. In psoriasis, this process takes only a few days, resulting in a build up of dead skin cells and formation of thick scales.

Psoriasis occurs more likely in dry skin than oily or well-moisturized skin. Excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, lack of or overexposure to sunlight, stress, cold climate, physical illness, streptococcal or HIV infection, superficial wounds, or taking certain drugs such as lithium, beta-blockers such as propranolol, anti-malarial medications and in general poor health results in flaring up of psoriasis.

The symptoms of psoriasis can manifest in a variety of forms. Different types of psoriasis exhibit different characteristics that may change over time. One form may change to another, or several forms may exist at the same time.

Plaque psoriasis: This is the most common type of psoriasis. It is characterized by raised, red lesions covered with silvery white scales. The scales are caused by a building up of dead skin cells. It may appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, trunk or any other skin surface. Guttate psoriasis: It is characterised by numerous small red dots of psoriasis. The lesions may have some scaling. These numerous spots of psoriasis appear over large areas of the body, such as the trunk, limbs, and scalp. It may appear suddenly following a bacterial or viral infection or the administration of drugs like ketoconazole and salicylic acid. Inverse psoriasis: This is usually found in the folds of the skin in the armpits, groin, under an overweight stomach or under the *******. It appears as smooth, red lesions without scaling and may cause irritation due to rubbing and sweating. Pustular psoriasis: It is characterized by blisters filled with pus on the skin. The blisters are not infectious. It may be found on the hands and feet or may be spread all over. The skin under and surrounding pustules is red and tender. Psoriatic arthritis: About 10% of the patients with psoriasis may develop a form of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis. This may cause redness and swelling, primarily on the hands, feet, knees, hips, elbows and spine. It may cause stiffness, pain and joint damage. Nail psoriasis: produces a variety of changes in the appearance of finger and toe nails. These changes include discolouring under the nail plate, pitting of the nails, lines going across the nails, thickening of the skin under the nail, and the loosening and crumbling of the nail. Erythrodermic psoriasis: involves the widespread inflammation and exfoliation of the skin over most of the body surface. It may be accompanied by severe itching, swelling and pain. It is often the result of an exacerbation of unstable plaque psoriasis, particularly following the abrupt withdrawal of systemic treatment. This form of psoriasis can be fatal, as the extreme inflammation and exfoliation disrupt the body’s ability to regulate temperature and for the skin to perform barrier functions.

Diagnosis of psoriasis is usually based on the appearance of the skin. There are no special blood tests or diagnostic procedures for psoriasis. Sometimes a skin biopsy, or scraping, may be needed to rule out other disorders and to confirm the diagnosis.

As per Ayurveda, Psoriasis is caused by vitiation of vata and kapha dosha. The vitiated doshas affect the skin and blood tissues. They also influence water element of the affected region on skin. Thus the skin which is influenced by affected doshas becomes discolored (white or copper colored), scaly and thin.
