Psoriasis Remedy

I have suffered from Psoriasis for many years and have tried every remedy known to Medical Science and some that weren’t. I have pumped my body full of steroids which has resulted in the thinning of my skin and weakness of my bones. I have tried countless sun bed treatments at the risk of acquiring skin cancer and so many creams and lotions that my Pharmacist now considers me to be a best friend.

I know that this unsightly, debilitating disease is incurable, but I just want to be able to wear sleeveless tops and skirts in the summer and go to the beach without feeling self conscious.

Hours of searching the Internet gave me a lot of things to try but nothing really worked adequately for any period of time. Research has shown me that Oats, Chamomile, Dead Sea Salt and Olive Oil are all very good for the skin – in fact I even considered saving up for a trip to the Dead Sea but finances wouldn’t allow.

Recently, by chance, I came across a piece in the Daily Mail’s Good Health section which mentioned ExfoliOats’ Oat Pouches. I was amazed to find that they use all the natural ingredients I had been reading about. I was sceptical but thought, what harm could this do? I decided to try the Oat Pouches and with perseverance and following the simple instructions provided I found that they alleviated the symptoms of my Psoriasis. My flaky patches disappeared and the redness is almost gone. As with all treatments of Psoriasis, nothing works overnight – but my perseverance has paid off and my skin has greatly improved. I got my pouches from ExfoliOats.com – what have you got to lose?

As those of you who suffer from Psoriasis will know, we do become evangelical about our condition and potential methods of relief. So when we find something that helps, we want the world and his wife to know about it. If this few minutes of time in letting you know about this helps you, then I will be sooo happy.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease characterized by thickened patches of inflamed, red skin covered with thick, silvery scales. There are several types of psoriasis that may affect different areas of the body as well as produce varying symptoms among individuals. It is a non-contagious disease and affects both the skin and joints. According to the National Institute of health, approximately 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis.

Although psoriasis may be almost unnoticeable in its early stages, patients often report an itching and/or burning sensation as the disease progresses. This disease has many different symptoms. The symptoms may be small flattened bumps, large thick plaques of raised skin, red patches, and pink mildly dry skin to big flakes of dry skin that flake off.

There are various forms of psoriasis and each of it has different symptoms associated with them. Below are some of them:

1. The most common form of psoriasis causes dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales. The plaques itch or may be painful and can occur anywhere on your body, including your ******** and the soft tissue inside your mouth. This form of psoriasis is also known as plaque psoriasis.

Scalp psoriasis will affect the scalp making it appear as red, itchy area with silvery-white scales. You may even notice flakes of dead skin in your hair or on your shoulders, especially after scratching your scalp. Guttate psoriasis is another form of psoriasis which affects the young people, usually below 30 years of age. These numerous spots of psoriasis appear over large areas of the body, such as the trunk, limbs, and scalp. Generally, guttate psoriasis occurs after a streptococcal or viral infection. Psoriatic arthritis causes pitted, discolored nails and swollen or stiff joints which are denote arthritis. It can also lead to inflammatory eye conditions such as conjunctivitis. Symptoms range from mild to severe. Pustular psoriasis is a rare form of psoriasis in which widespread patches develop on the hands. Pustular psoriasis can occur in smaller areas or involve most of the body with innumerable tiny white pustules. Eythrodermic Psoriasis is characterized by the entire body bright red and scaly. It can cause the entire body to be covered with red peeling rash. This form of psoriasis is the least common. It causes redness over larger areas. Inverse psoriasis occurs in the armpit, under the breast, skin folds, around the groin, in the cleft between the buttocks and around the ********. It is usually pink in color and doesn’t have the thick scale seen in other forms of psoriasis.

Well, above are some of the common symptoms associated with this disease. One should be aware of the symptoms so that the disease can be detected in the early stages and fast treatment can be carried out!

Plaque Psoriasis, aside from being the most common type, is just psoriasis. Let me explain. Prior to being called this, it was psoriasis and before this, was thought to be leprosy.

For example… psoriasis on the scalp came to be scalp psoriasis. This began to get descriptive names many decades ago according to where on the body you had it. It’s still the same, but changes its appearance depending where on the body you have it. For obvious reasons (hair mass and less skin tissue), this on the scalp has generally a different appearance then psoriasis on the elbows and knees.

Signs and Symptoms

There are various types of psoriasis. We have Plaque psoriasis, Nail psoriasis, Scalp psoriasis, Guttate psoriasis, Inverse psoriasis, Pustular psoriasis, Erythrodermic psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis. And the most common of it is the plaque psoriasis. The symptoms of psoriasis may defer depending on what type a person has but may include one or more of the following:

• Red patches of skin, inflamed skin usually covered with silver colored scales is the most common form of plaque psoriasis. These patches may be itchy and painful. The itch may occur anywhere in your body including your ********. Sometimes these red patches ***** and bleed.

• Psoriasis may also affect your fingernails and toenails. Discoloration and pitting of the nails can also be one of the symptoms of nail psoriasis. This may causes the nails to loosen and will eventually detach from the nail bed. Nails may crumble in most severe cases of nail psoriasis.

• Scalp psoriasis or psoriasis on the scalp may appear red. Itchy areas of the scalp may have silvery colored white scales. Flakes are noticeable in your hair or shoulders, especially after scratching your scalp.

• Guttate psoriasis may affects people less than 30 years of age. Marked by small water-drop-shaped sores on your trunks, arms, legs and scalp.

• Inverse psoriasis is the kind that mainly affects the skin in your armpits, groin, under the breasts, and around the ********. Inverse psoriasis is common the oversized people and it is worsened by friction and sweating.

Ayurveda Treatment

Ayurvedic treatment for psoriasis lasts for 21 to 28 days and effectively cures psoriasis. All types of psoriasis and skin diseases have effective treatment in Ayurveda.

Psoriasis is a skin disease that takes a toll on the confidence of a person. It is characterized by silvery scales or plaques on skin. Skin cells are easily lost. Skin will also be dry.

According to Ayurveda psoriasis occurs due to vitiation of vata and kapha doshas. The reasons can be incompatible food taking, accumulation of toxins etc.

Panchakarma, the basic body purification method is used in the treatment of psoriasis. Ayurvedic treatment for psoriasis goes through several stages viz. lepanam (application of ointments), abhayangam (oil massage), snehapanam (taking medicated ghee),

Psoriasis Treatment

Psoriasis is a skin disease which severely affects skin and joints. Generally, patient suffering from this disease have red scaly patches over the skin, these patches are known as plaques. Excessive cell production on the psoriasis affected area is the cause of plaque generation and inflammation. Sometime the plaque also acquires slivery-white appearance. Psoriasis can be localized or it can cover whole body according to the severity of disease. Psoriasis has affected the human beings for very long time; though earlier it was believed to be a type of leprosy.

An exact cause for Psoriasis is not known. It is believed that Psoriasis affects the body because of malfunctioning of the immune-system. Several factors can lead to Psoriasis like stress, depression, consumption of alcohol amongst others. Psoriasis is recurring and chronic in nature.
Psoriasis has various types which include Plaque Psoriasis, Guttate Psoriasis, Nail Psoriasis Erythrodermic Psoriasis and Flexural Psoriasis. But, most common and most frequently affecting psoriasis is Plaque Psoriasis. This affects about 85% people suffering from psoriasis. Diagnosis of psoriasis generally begins with appearance of the skin; sometime biopsy is also needed for its diagnosis.

There is no exact medical remedy for this disease. Many techniques are adopted for psoriasis treatment. Oral medication ointment application and use of ultra violent rays over the affect area are some of the methods adopted by the dermatologist. The methods which are generally applied can be classified into following categories:-

Psoriasis is an inflammatory autoimmune skin condition that is non-contagious and chronic. During the earlier times, medical practitioners believe that psoriasis is a variety of leprosy, mainly because of its scaly appearance. It is one of the most ancient human diseases known to mankind. Incidentally, psoriasis has been greatly misunderstood over the years. Scholars eventually paid much attention to this skin disorder, yet to this day – no cure was found.

Psoriasis occurs when an individual’s immune system sends out defective signals that hasten the growth cycle of his or her skin cells. Because ten to thirty percent of people who have had psoriasis get a related form of arthritis, it is imperative that the skin condition is treated immediately and properly.

Note: Psoriatic arthritis is the related form of arthritis. Psoriatic arthritis is the inflammation of the joints.

There are five types of psoriasis, each of which has unique signs and symptoms. The five types are plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular and erythrodermic. Among these five, plaque psoriasis is the most common. Plaque appears as patches of raised, reddish skin covered by silvery-white scale. Usually, the plaques are formed on the elbows and knees as well as the lower back and scalp. However, the plaques can also manifest themselves on any part of the body. About 80% of people who develop psoriasis have plaque psoriasis. The other 20% have any of the other types. Guttate psoriasis appears as small, red spots on the skin. Inverse psoriasis manifests itself as smooth, red lesions formed in skin folds. Pustular psoriasis, on the other hand, appears as white pustules surrounded by red skin, while erythrodermic psoriasis causes widespread redness with severe itching and pain.

People must be aware that anyone may have psoriasis. This skin disorder can occur on any part of the body. Psoriasis causes a person discomfort, no matter they type. Aside from the stubborn itch on the skin, it may also ***** and bleed. Severe cases of psoriasis, which are manifested through excessive itching and discomfort, may cause a person to be up all night and the pain that one has to endure can make everyday ordinary tasks difficult. In addition to that, psoriasis is associated with other serious health problems such as heart disease, depression and diabetes, to name a few.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease. That means that it is a lifelong condition that people who have already developed them would often experience flares and remissions all throughout their life. Currently, psoriasis has no cure. There are, however, many different treatments that are available. There are varying treatment for the severity and type of psoriasis. The milder cases may be treated at home with different home remedies. On the other hand, severe cases may require hospitalization.

Herbal skin care advocates are about to receive good news. Psoriasis can be treated naturally. The listed Psoriasis natural treatment below are studied by the medical community. Also, these natural options are reported effective by members of various psoriasis foundations:

1. Apple cider vinegar – It has been reported that the different types of vinegar has been used for medical purposed all throughout history by people of different cultures. Apple cider vinegar, for one, has been used for many years as a cleanser, disinfectant or soothing agent. Apple cider vinegar can help treat psoriasis, according to some people who have had the disease. The vinegar may be applied directly on the skin, added to the bath, mixed with a moisturizer or have their infected body parts soaked on it.

2. Capsaicin – Capsaicin is an ingredient contained in cayenne peppers. Some studies have shown that capsaicin is an effective way to treat psoriasis by reducing the redness, scaling and itching on the skin. Short-live burning sensation, however, is the only side effect.

3. Oats – Extracts from oats have been used for hundreds of years as soothing topical agents for various skin disorders. Oat extracts can be used to treat dry and itchy skin conditions such as psoriasis. People who have psoriasis may make their own oatmeal bath to get rid of the skin disorder.

4. Tea tree oil – Tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties and was used in surgery and dentistry as early as the 1920’s. Like aloe vera, tea tree oil is now an active ingredient in many cosmetic products. Tea tree oil, according to some members of psoriasis foundation, is an effective way to treat psoriasis, especially those that form on the scalp.

Whatever the type and severity, psoriasis can affect a person’s quality of life. As already stated, psoriasis is a lifelong condition that poses physical and emotional challenges to an individual. The good news is, members of the medical community and psoriasis foundations are constantly looking for cure for this skin condition. There are now several therapies that have emerged, and it has been reported that more people are experiencing significant improvements to their condition.

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a disease which affects the skin and joints and commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Psoriasis can cause pain, itching, burning and emotional distress. It affects both sexes equally and can occur at any age, although it most commonly appears for the first time between the ages of 15 and 25.

Today more than seven million Americans suffer with psoriasis. Recent studies show that there may be an ethnic link. It seems that psoriasis is most common in Caucasians, slightly less in African Americans and far less common among Asians and Native Americans.

Psoriasis is not contagious. You can’t catch psoriasis from another person or give it to someone by touching them, and you can’t spread it to other parts of your body.

What Causes Psoriasis?

The cause of psoriasis is not fully understood. Recent research indicates that it is likely a disorder of the immune system in which the excessive reproduction of skin cells is secondary to factors produced by the immune system.

Scientists now think that, in psoriasis, an abnormal immune system causes activity by T cells in the skin. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease, but in the case of psoriasis, they mistakenly attack skin cells instead. The body then produces other immune system responses, leading to swelling and rapid production of skin cells.

In areas affected by psoriasis, there seems to be a rapid increase in the speed at which skin cells are replaced. Skin usually takes about 28 days to mature and shed, but in areas affected by psoriasis it only takes three or four days. The dead cells build up on the skin, forming thick, flaky patches called plaques.

It is not known what initiates the activation of the T cells.

Several factors are thought to aggravate psoriasis: Infections, Diseases that weaken the immune system, Stress, Certain medications, Smoking, Certain chemicals, Severe sunburn…

Psoriasis treatment

Today, there are many different treatments available to help control psoriasis.

No single treatment works for everyone. The goal is to find a treatment that works the best with the fewest side effects. One of the first principles of psoriasis treatment is to not create anything worse than the disease.

There are three basic types of treatments for psoriasis:

1. Topical treatment (medicated ointments or creams applied to the skin)

2. Phototherapy (UVB, PUVA and lasers)

3. Systemic (medications taken into the body by pill or injection)

Alternative Psoriasis treatments

The use of alternative psoriasis treatments are becoming more common as more and more people choose to treat their condition in more nontraditional ways. They have become tired of finding a traditional therapy that works, or may be concerned about the side effects many of those therapies produce.

Alternative psoriasis treatments are in most cases perfectly safe and include:

Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Manipulation Treatment, Osteopathy, Climatotherapy, Diet, Dietary Supplements, Homeopathy, Water Therapies (Balneotherapy, Heliotherapy, Phytotherapy, Thalassotherapy), Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments, Meditation and Relaxation, Herbology, Hypnosis, Moisturizing Products, Magnets, Epsom salt, Neem oil, Fasting…

About the Author:

Hope you read my article last month about the great Oat Pouches that I’d found to treat my Psoriasis. Just wanted to let you know that the same company has just sent me a sample of their Psoriasis Relief Oil and, within 2 days, I’ve had incredible results.

I’ve used the Oil after my ExfoliOats’ Oat Pouches and cannot believe the difference in the appearance of my skin. Just as they promised, the red and white patches just disappeared (even if only temporarily). But who cares, I was able to wear a sleeveless top to a wedding last weekend and nobody noticed or commented on my Psoriasis. In fact a close friend asked if my Psoriasis had been cured but I reminded her that there is no cure – simply ways to control the disease.

Since I last wrote, I have disposed of all of my steroid creams, kept away from the sun beds and relied on nature’s own remedies – oats, chamomile, lavender, olive oil and dead sea salt.

All of you Psoriasis and Eczema sufferers (and we do make a large crowd!) do yourselves a favour and visit www.ExfoliOats.com – at last something that really works and can’t cause me further damage. By the way, if you need to get some advice, I’ve found that the people at ExfoliOats are really easy to talk to and genuinely want to help – quite a few of them suffer from Psoriasis so know what they’re talking about. The telephone number is on their web site.

I’ll keep any eye on their web site and keep you informed of any new ideas.

About the Author:

Psoriasis is a long lasting, chronic skin ailment characterized by inflammation and scaling of outer layer of skin. The symptoms of psoriasis are chronic skin rash condition with a red or silver color and the skin has blisters.

The symptoms of having the disease are recurring attacks of skin rashes, small red patches that expands and becomes scaly, red plaques and silvery scales etc.

When psoriasis occurs, patches on the skin thicken, reddens, and become covered with silvery scales referred to as plaques. These patches are itchy or have a burning sensation with ***** in the skin at the joints.

Psoriasis occurs in a wide variety of areas in the body including the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, face, palms, fingernails, and soles of the feet, toenails and even on the soft tissues inside the mouth. Psoriasis often leads to psoriatic arthritis.

Researchers have commented that, psoriasis is a disorder of the immune system. In psoriasis the abnormal immune system leads to the over-production of T-cells; a type of white blood cell that protects against infections; that in turn triggers the excessive skin cell production and inflammation.

There are certain conditions that flare up the problem of psoriasis, like infections, stress, change of climate and excessive dry skin. There are certain medications that worsen the problem of psoriasis such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and medicines for treating high blood pressure or depression.

Psoriasis may also be hereditary. Genetic connections with a psoriasis patient may also trigger the diseases.

Diagnosis of psoriasis requires a through examination and required diagnosis. There are various types of psoriasis. The most common type is the plaque psoriasis or psoriasis vulgaris as known scientifically.

In this type of psoriasis, the lesions have a reddened base covered by silvery base. Guttate psoriasis are caused by viral respiratory infections or streptococcal infections. In this type, drop like lesions occur on the limbs, and scalp. The non-infectious pus characterizes pustular psoriasis. Sunlight allergies, medications, infections, perspirations, emotional stress, chemicals and even pregnancy cause it.

Large, dry, smooth red plaques occurring in the folds of the skin near the genitals, in the armpits and under the breast, characterizes inverse psoriasis. It is related to over-sensitivity to sweating and friction. Reddening and scaling of the skin, accompanied by itching sensation and pain in the area happens in the case of erythrodermic psoriasis.

The disease, psoriasis requires a systematic treatment according to the severity of the problem and responsiveness to certain medication. The effectiveness of the treatments varies from one individual to another.

The type of treatment suitable for a particular patient depends on the location of the lesion, their size, amount of skin affected, response to the undergoing treatment and most importantly the perceptions of the patient and preferences about the treatment undergoing. The treatment is according to the specific forms of disorder.

There are mainly three types of treatment provided to the patients affected by psoriasis. In the topical treatment, the patient is suggested loads of fresh air and sunlight, steroid ointments, and medicines prepared from coal tar or anthralin and vitamin D3.

Other topical solutions include, bath solutions and moisturizers. Phototherapy and systematic treatment for severe cases are other forms of psoriasis treatment.

About the Author:

If you suspect a member of your family, a close friend or you yourself suffer from psoriasis, it is useful to be able to recognise the symptoms of psoriasis so that you can get the right type of medical treatment that is needed to control the different kinds of psoriasis manifestations that occur.

If you see that someone is suffering from psoriasis, you can examine the affected area and do some research on the internet to help them find some remedies that will help to reduce the redness, itching, scaly skin and other, sometimes unsightly symptoms. You may want to ask your doctor or dermatologist for a list of symptoms that the disease has.

Common indicators of psoriasis are itching and burning sensations that are frequently associated with rashes and other skin problems. Most people that suffer from psoriasis get lesions and scaly skin. This can cause the skin to ***** and flake due to becoming very dry. Other symptoms to look out for when psoriasis is suspected are red spots that can be seen on certain parts of a person’s body, like the elbows, the scalp, the ******* areas, and the knees.

Once you are familiar with the symptoms of psoriasis, it is important to consult your doctor or dermatologist to help you or the affected person with this skin condition to get a treatment for the uncomfortable and sometimes painful flare-ups that often occur with psoriasis.

Psoriasis treatments vary depending on the severity and type of psoriasis the person is suffering from and the places where the flare-ups and scales are found. An easily treatable type of psoriasis is the kind that is found on the scalp. This type is known as scalp psoriasis. Scalp psoriasis has the same symptoms, lesions and scaly skin that is often found on the elbows and knees. Scalp psoriasis affects sufferers on the sclap itself and around the nape. This form of psoriasis can be treated with ointments and topical creams that are formulated to remove these flakes and lesions. Anti dandruff shampoos can be used to remove the flakes from the person’s hair and other creams and lotions can be used to reduce the redness and itchiness of the lesions themselves.

Guttate psoriasis can be treated at home when the case is not too severe. By keeping the skin moist it will be help to reduce the irritation that a dry skin brings. After bathing it can help to apply a think lotion that will trap water against the skin and will soothe any burning sensations.

Pustular psoriasis is normally seen in adults. Pustular psoriasis is characterized by white pustules (blisters of non infectious pus) surrounded by red skin. The pus consists of white blood cells and is not contagious or an infection. It may be localized to certain areas of the body–for example, the hands and feet or it can be generalized, covering most of the body. It tends to go in a cycle, reddening of the skin followed by scaling and the formation of pustules.

Psoriasis can become very unsightly and can cover a large area of the body which may become very uncomfortable and stressful for the sufferer. Over the years there has been lots of research conducted on psoriasis so if you suffer from the disease make sure you contact your doctor or dermatologist as they may be able to give you some medication that will help treat the symptoms of psoriasis. Do your best to reduce stress as this is a major cause of a lot of psoriasis outbreaks.

About the Author:

Psoriasis is a condition of the skin. It flares up in the form of scaly red dry patches causing unsightly patches and much discomfort.

Those that suffer from it equate their flare ups with having an unwanted guest. They suddenly show up, irritate you and know one knows what to do with them. There are several treatments for this skin condition that can range from itchy to down right painful. For any psoriasis sufferer, the first port of call should be your doctor. However, never be afraid to ask your doctor about home remedies that can help your condition. One such home remedy is keeping the skin moist.

You can keep the skin moist in a variety of ways. Soaking the skin is a very effective way. Warm baths, soaking and swimming, help to re-hydrate the skin. This can also help to remove some of the dry, hard scaly skin that can develop. Soaking helps the skin stay moist as well as reduces the itching. The scaly skin, which can act as a barrier to many creams and medications can be removed more easily. If your don’t wish to soak or don’t have the time, applying cool wet compressed to the areas can also help.

It is important to remember that if you soak frequently, you should apply some moisturizer straight after. Soaking can remove some of the skins natural oils. Doing this too often without re-moisturizing the skin can actually make the problem worse. Make sure, at least within 3 minutes of your soak, you apply a moisturizer with heavy emollient. This will replace what was lost by the soak and help your skin stay moisturized.

Creams can also help you overcome your psoriasis condition. There are several moisturizers that you can by but these can be quite expensive. The costs can add up quite quickly as well if your condition is wide spread and serious. If you have cooking oils, petroleum jelly or lard around your house, you have some of the best treatments. Most of these items help moisturize the skin and lock the essential oils in. they also offer symptom relief from psoriasis itself. Most of us have one or even all of these items in our homes. They are just as good if not better than many of the hand creams you can buy and cost much less.

Keeping you skin clean is important for anyone. It is especially important for the psoriasis sufferer. Dirty skin can lead to infections. These can make the skin condition worse as well as create illness. One problem with keeping the skin clean is that many soaps can dry the skin out. Psoriasis sufferers must be careful with cleansers. At very least, choose a mild soap. If your psoriasis is quite severe then you may have to opt for a soap free option. You doctor or pharmacist will be able to advise you on which products will be best.

If one suffers from psoriasis, keeping the skin moist is essential. Dry skin can be irritating, itchy and even cause injury. Extremely dry skin can reduce flexibility and limit movements. It can also lead to skin breakage which can cause bleeding. Moisturizers are available but can be expensive. If you don’t want to spend loads at the pharmacy use cooking oils and petroleum jelly. These are just as good and will save a fortune. Use caution in choosing soaps. Cleanliness is important but certain soaps can worsen you condition. By keeping you skin moist, you can improve your skins condition and feel much better.

If you are a psoriasis sufferer, you may want to invest in a humidifier. Keeping moisture in the air may help reduce your psoriasis symptoms. We all hear of the benefits of dry heat but in the case of a psoriasis sufferer, the opposite is true. Dry heat and dry air equals dry skin. This can inflame the skin and make the condition worse.

Psoriasis can be an irritating and painful disease. It can create unsightly patches of skin and leave the sufferer self conscious of their appearance. You may need medical attention to treat psoriasis; however you can try several home treatments that are available. Keeping the skin moist, with regular soaks and moisturizers can help minimize the symptoms and improve skin quality.

About the Author:

The main symptoms of Psoriases skin disorder are red itchy, scaly skin that is dry and often thick like a callous. As opposed to Eczema, Psoriasis does not make the skin moist but eczema can create dry thick leathery skin very much like Psoriasis. Both of these conditions can be reduced with a Natural Psoriasis Treatment cream. Psoriasis skin disorder can be found anywhere on the body but there are some tell tale areas. Psoriasis is commonly found on the outside of the elbows and knees (the back of the elbow and the front of the knees). Although Psoriasis is harmless in itself it can cause a lot of distress and suffering for those who have it. Psoriasis can be unbearably severe to the extent of large affected areas of inflamed, irritated skin that the sufferer must endure. Scratching makes the problem worse but the sufferer will have to endure the itchy feeling with little relief. That is why Natural Psoriasis Treatment creams are so effective for Psoriasis skin disorders. They not only help reduce the effects of Psoriasis, but also provide immediate soothing relief on the area.

If you scratch too much while suffering Psoriasis skin disorder, you can cause serious damage to your skin in the long term. Psoriasis sufferers often end up with scarring after the Psoriasis has healed which is often permanent. After dealing with a traumatic and socially distressing skin disorder a person who has had psoriasis will then have to endure long term skin damage and emotional distress. A topical Natural Psoriasis Treatment cream can help soothe and alleviate the suffering of someone with Psoriasis and prevent the need to scratch. Regular applications will calm and soothe the inflammation and reduce itchiness in both the long term and the term of immediate application. It is best to prevent scarring as much as possible by using a cooling cream and avoid scratching as much as possible.

Natural Psoriasis Treatments can provide a chemical free alternative for healthy skin. A natural cream can help reduce inflammation, itchiness, redness, and re-hydrate the skin and there is no need for synthetic ingredients. There are many natural ingredients available that help promote healing, skin elasticity, re-hydration and other great skin benefits to help you cope with Psoriasis.
Historically, sufferers from skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis have been looked at with disgust and ostracized from society. In fact, the term leper was applied to people with all kinds of unsightly skin conditions, not only leprosy.

This revulsion towards skin disease is still prevalent today, and psoriasis is a very stressful and miserable condition to have, especially with the young, for obvious reasons: it affects all parts of the body, including scalp, face, hands, nails and even the ******* areas. It is unpleasant to look at and unpleasant to have.

Like many conditions, only a sufferer can understand the way it affects aspects of life others take for granted; activities such as having a good time at a swimming pool, sunbathing on the beach, wearing a t-shirt, shorts or even changing clothes in front of people, and for youngsters and teenagers, trying to find a boyfriend or girl friend. None of these things, which are part of every day life, are easy for psoriasis suffers, andin some cases not even possible. It is sometimes embarrassing even going for a hair cut! Only we know the feelings, doubts and anxieties when people stare at us or make comments.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE?

Quite frankly, in my opinion, no one knows what causes psoriasis. I have heard it said that it is inherited. I have suffered from psoriasis for 30 years but no one else in my family has it, going back to my great grandparents on both sides of the family. One thing is certain – it is not infectious. Psoriasis cannot be passed from one person to another.

I have read about many factors which trigger psoriasis: – stress – alcohol – smoking – diet – contact with certain chemicals – cold – mechanical stress to elbows, knees – exposure to some steroids and other medications

and so many other activities to avoid in addition to the above, such as swimming. Can swimming really trigger psoriasis? I wouldn’t know, its been such a long time since I enjoyed that activity.

It has been said that psoriasis has a connection with arthritis. This I believe since some of my family have arthritis and I have it in both knees. Perhaps this could eventually be clue as to the cause. However, psoriasis is not as glamorous as most conditions which are given research funding.

The cause of psoriasis is thought to be connected to the autoimmune system and a certain type of white blood cell called T-cells which stimulate the reproduction of skin cells. The result is that skin cells grow much faster than normal – this basically is what psoriasis is: skin cells reproducing much faster than they usually do, so it a completely natural process, just that it is happening too fast. Why this happens is unknown, and the reason why one patch of skin is affected with psoriasis while the skin beside it is clear, is also unknown.

However, research is being carried out on the human genome of people affected with psoriasis to try determine any genetic cause of the disease. So far it is thought that a number of factors are involved which combine to form the condition when acted on by a trigger such as one or more of those above.

There are many claims on the internet from people who profess to have discovered the cause of psoriasis, and hence a psoriasis cure, but I do not believe them. Anyone with a cure for psoriasis would not be selling it for a few bucks on the internet. They would very rapidly become multi millionaires!

Psoriasis causes enough mental stress and anguish in sufferers without them having to read this kind of nonsense, and be given false hope by some internet marketer who is trying to make a fast buck from someone’s concerns and worries. This type of marketing with stressful conditions such as psoriasis we can do without.

If anyone out there claims to have a cure for psoriasis, send it to me free of charge and I will try it out. If your claims are true I will tell the world for you, and you will make more money than you can count. I wonder how much response I will get to that offer? Don’t wait up.

In Part 2 I will describe the various types of psoriasis and how they applied to me. What problems they gave me personally and what treatments I sought and used for them. The results make interesting reading and I have a few suggestions to make as to how psoriasis can be controlled.

I also found that everyone is different, and an effective treatment for one can do nothing for another. This supports the theory that the condition is due to a number of factors, and that the individuals environment can have a significant part to play.

About the Author:

A chronic disease of the skin consisting of itchy, dry, red patches, usually affecting the scalp or arms and legs. A common chronic skin disease, more common in whites (2% of the population) than in other racial groups, in which red flaky lesions occuroften on the elbows and knees, or in the scalp. May cause nail abnormalities. A chronic skin disease that occurs when cells in the outer layer of the skin reproduce faster than normal and pile up on the skin’s surface. This results in scaling and inflammation. An estimated 10 to 30 percent of people with psoriasis develop an associated arthritis called psoriatic arthritis.

More than 4.5 million adults in the United States have been diagnosed with psoriasis, and approximately 150,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. An estimated 20% have moderate to severe psoriasis.

Causes of Psoriasis

The cause of psoriasis is not known, but it is believed to have a genetic component. Several factors are thought to aggravate psoriasis. These include stress, excessive alcohol consumption, and smoking. Individuals with psoriasis may suffer from depression and loss of self-esteem. When psoriasis develops, patches of skin thicken, redden, and become covered with silvery scales; these patches are also known as plaques.

Types of Psoriasis

Plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris) – is the most common form of psoriasis. It affects 80 to 90% of people with psoriasis.

Flexural psoriasis appears as smooth inflamed patches of skin. It occurs in skin folds, particularly around the ******** (between the thigh and groin), the armpits, under an overweight stomach (pannus), and under the ******* (inframammary fold).

Guttate psoriasis is characterized by numerous small oval spots. These numerous spots of psoriasis appear over large areas of the body, such as the trunk, limbs, and scalp.

Pustular psoriasis appears as raised bumps that are filled with non-infectious pus (pustules). The skin under and surrounding pustules is red and tender.

Nail psoriasis produces a variety of changes in the appearance of finger and toe nails.

Treatment of Psoriasis

There can be substantial variation between individuals in the effectiveness of specific psoriasis treatments. Because of this, dermatologists often use a trial-and-error approach to finding the most appropriate treatment for their patient. It has long been recognized that daily, short, non-burning exposure to sunlight helped to clear or improve psoriasis. Climatotherapy involves the notion that some diseases can be successfully treated by living in a particular climate. Several psoriasis clinics are located throughout the world based on this idea.

According to supporters of Ayurvedic medicine, managing disease and restoring health involve assessing the whole person to understand the nature of the imbalance. For psoriasis, a specific treatment regimen might involve topical application of certain oils, such as sesame or mustard; fasting and other dietary guidelines; elimination of stress; and regular physical exercise.

Naturopathic practice excludes major surgery and the use of most synthetic drugs. Naturopathic treatments can complement those used by conventionally trained doctors. How a naturopathic doctor treats psoriasis varies from practitioner to practitioner.

Herbal remedies are increasingly popular and mainstream. Many people dealing with chronic diseases such as psoriasis turn to these alternatives when Western medicine stops working.

About the Author:

Psoriasis is a common enduring skin disease associated with the inflammation and scaling of the skin. Rapid reproduction of the epidermis of the skin than the normal rate amassed on the surface of the skin lead to skin scaling. Though Psoriasis is not infectious in any approach but there is possibility of getting it from stirring a psoriasis afflicted person.

Research studies reveal the root cause of the psoriasis of different types is mainly the abnormal immune system resulting to excess production of T cells on the skin triggering the inflammation and scaling of the skin. Psoriasis may also be congenital but in very rare cases.

Psoriasis generally occur in all age groups of both sexes and experiencing discomfort, constrained movement of joints, and emotional agony are some of the common symptoms of psoriasis . Scrap of skin thickening or plaques with burning sensation, reddening, and covered with silvery scale are observed with the development of the psoriasis.

The organs of infection by psoriasis are palms, knees, elbows, face, scalp, lower back, and feet soles as well as toenails, fingernails, and the soft tissues of ********* and mouth. There are different types of psoriasis and scalp psoriasis is a frequently occurring one where the patient experiences rigorous burning and tightness feeling and some sorts of soreness. The management of the scalp psoriasis is the essential requirement for the healthy skin and ultimately healthy living.

Current therapy for the treatment of scalp psoriasis comprises of corticosteroids, calcipotriol or calcipotriene, tars, tazarotene, and anthralin depending upon the depth of the psoriasis. If it is thick, procedures must aim in thinning the plaques. Solutions, gels and lotions, are normally used as they are easier to use, as well as do not confer a greasy facade to hair, and are simpler to clean out. Relevant corticosteroid gels, solutions, shampoos lotions, and oils may be utilized in treatment of scalp psoriasis.

Calcipotriene or Calcipotriol is the derivative of calciferol, vitamin D and the commencement of action is typically slower than those of newsworthy steroids, but is very effective and secure for enduring treatment of scalp psoriasis. Tazarotene that is gel formulation is another selective retinoid having properties similar to retinol, vitamin A. To diminish annoyance, a slight layer of gel formulation should be applied only to the scrap and evade the uninfected skin and one should never go for this treatment of scalp psoriasis if she is pregnant.

Methotrexate is oral treatment of scalp psoriasis that may infrequently use as injection It assist in controlling psoriasis affecting skin, joints and nails and does possess side effects like mouth ulcers, disturbed stomach, liver injury and bone marrow suppression along with reduced blood counts. Cautious monitoring by the physician is necessary for this medication and even Liver biopsies might prefer.

Acitretin is another retinoid with similar properties of vitamin A not much effective for the management of plaque type psoriasis but works fairly well in treating pustular psoriasis. This management has side effects of skin, nose, lips, and eyes, dryness.

Cyclosporine is the only immunosuppressant prescription foe the treatment of scalp psoriasis which is utilized well in organ transplantation. It is extremely effective, but typically reserved for critical conditions with disabling, severe, resistant disease due to its side effects and cost. The side effects includes soaring blood pressure, kidney toxicity, deadness and stinging, hair intensification, lymphomas and skin cancer and thus cautious monitoring of the professional experts are immensely required.

About the Author:

Herbal Creams That Can Cure Psoriasis

Of all of the different organs in the body, the skin is probably the one that is the least understood. As a matter of fact, many people don’t even realize that the skin is actually an organ itself, they may just consider it to be a covering for the body. A lot of problems can occur with the skin, that can range from small rashes to large patches of psoriasis. In order to overcome these problems, we need to make sure that we are treating the largest organ of the body, the skin, as healthily as possible.

There are a number of different things that can help us to overcome skin conditions and in the case of psoriasis, they may be able to help us to avoid it altogether. The unfortunate thing is, many of these cures come in the form of natural treatments that have not been administered by doctors and have not gone through any rigorous testing. Most of us who are interested in natural healing, however, realize that there is never going to be any kind of scientific proof behind the things that heal without pharmaceuticals. The reason why that is the case is because there is no money in natural healing so there is no research that is done for it.

There are a number of ancient as well as newer natural cures that are available for psoriasis. Most of these come in the form of different herbs and minerals that are applied directly to the skin. It is true that applying these things to the skin can have a large impact in how we react to underlying problems, such as psoriasis. The difficulty is, it can be difficult to have all of these different herbs and minerals that are necessary at any given time.

One of the ways for you to overcome this problem is to find a natural cream that you can apply directly to the skin that contains all of these vital nutrients. It is important that if you are going to apply something like this to the skin, you make sure that it does not have any harsh chemicals or unnatural pharmaceuticals. After all, the things you put on your skin are going to be absorbed into your body quickly. By giving your skin what it needs in the form of one of these herbal creams, you will be able to do what is necessary to combat psoriasis naturally.

Drinking Water to Help Relieve Psoriasis

There are a number of different skin problems of people have to deal with and you would probably be surprised with the number of them that are silently suffering from things such as psoriasis. Although in some cases, psoriasis is difficult to hide because it is visible on parts of the skin that everyone can see, there are other times whenever an individual may have the psoriasis other areas of their body where it is not visible, such as on the back or even on the scalp. Although there are a number of different ways that psoriasis is treated naturally, one of the ways that many people have claimed to have success is through drinking water.

Although it may come as a bit of a surprise to you that drinking water may be able to cure psoriasis, the simple fact of the matter is that all of us tend to be dehydrated and this can cause a number of different health issues. The human body is made up of over 90% water and it is in almost all of our cells and is an integral part of the human physique. It only stands to reason that by depriving ourselves of this substance, we are also depriving ourselves of the opportunity to have radiant health. Of course, drinking water in the proper way is necessary in order for you to make sure that you are as hydrated as possible.

Typically, people that are needing to hydrate themselves will need to follow something that is known as the water cure. The formula for doing the water cure is fairly simple, drank half of your body weight every day in ounces of water. So, for example, an individual that weighed 200 pounds would end up having to drink 100 ounces of water every day, all throughout the day. You also want to make sure that every time you do drink some water through the day that you are taking a little bit of natural sea salt in order to allow the water to stay in your body and to do its healing work.

One of the nice things about the water cure is the fact that it typically does not take long for you to begin to recognize differences in the way that you look and in the way that you feel. If you are currently dealing with psoriasis, try starting the water cure today and you may find that you are feeling better tomorrow.

People who have to deal with skin conditions regularly can certainly sympathize with those who have more serious problems, such as psoriasis. Psoriasis is actually a medical condition in which the T cells in the body become activated and the natural process of the skin going from layer to layer is considerably increased. Where it would typically take new skin cells up to a month to travel through the different layers and eventually flake off, a person with psoriasis would deal with this condition in a weeks time. As of this time, there is no known medical treatment which completely cures psoriasis but there are some natural things which can be done in order to help you to cope with it successfully. Here are 4 Cures For Psoriasis.

First you might want to check out this excellent guide, all about natural cures for psoriasis

Drink Plenty of Water – It is very important that you keep your body hydrated as this may be one of the major triggers for psoriasis and according to some naturalists, may actually be one of the causes. In order to hydrate yourself properly, drink half of your weight every day in ounces of water. Make sure that you take plenty of sea salt with the water in order to allow it to hydrate you properly.

Avoid Skin Damage – There are a number of different issues which can also cause your psoriasis to flareup through skin damage. This would not only include obvious damage, such as cuts or burns but it would also include small damage, such as scratching yourself or overexposure to the sun.

Get Some Sunlight – This might surprise you, considering the fact that we just told you that too much sun is a bad thing. Although overexposure to the sun can cause your psoriasis to flareup, a little bit of exposure to the sun may actually be beneficial for outbreaks. Make sure that you are getting a few minutes of sunlight every day, and you will receive health benefits along with being able to deal with your psoriasis.

Bathe Properly – It is important that you are bathing on a daily basis but that you do so properly. Never bathe in extremely hot or cold water, always make sure that it is comfortably mild. You should also avoid any harsh chemicals in the soaps and shampoos that you use as these can also be a trigger for psoriasis.

What do we know about the influence of the sun on psoriasis? Does the sun improve or worsen psoriasis? Is the affect of the sunlight same in all the people with psoriasis?

The majority of the people with psoriasis (about 95%) report that the exposure to the sun helps them in their psoriasis treatment.

The exception is the people with the so-called summer psoriasis, which is known to get worse in the summer, possibly under the influence of the sun.

The summer psoriasis is also known as the Photoinduced or the Photosensitive psoriasis. This rare type of psoriasis affects about 5% of the people with psoriasis. The so-called summer psoriasis may be the result of the Koebner phenomenon — when the psoriatic lesions are triggered by any kind of skin trauma. Therefore the people with the photosensitive psoriasis should be extremely careful when exposing their skin to the sun.

The UV light in the sun is capable of suppressing the activity of the T cells in the people with psoriasis. Therefore, the sun in moderation is really capable of improving the course of psoriasis in the people with the so-called winter psoriasis.

Many people with psoriasis often go on vacations to the places with a better climate. People, who live in the Northern climate, usually notice a significant improvement in their psoriasis after a stay in a warm sunny Southern climate. Some people with psoriasis even choose to relocate to the places with a better climate.

But unfortunately the sun in excess may become harmful for the people with psoriasis, even for the people with the so-called winter psoriasis, which is known to get better in the summer, under the influence of the sunlight.

The UV light in excess may cause sunburn. Skin traumas are one of the major psoriasis triggers. Any skin trauma, be it cut, a bruise or a burn may cause either the appearance of psoriasis in the genetically predisposed to psoriasis people, or the flare-up of psoriasis in the people with psoriasis.

And thus the sun may become a psoriasis treatment method, as well as a psoriasis provoking factor.

Therefore, if you decide to improve the state of your psoriasis with the sunlight, you should treat the sun just as you would treat any other psoriasis treatment – there has to be a particular scheme, which you should follow while sun tanning.

If you have fair skin, or in the case, you want to be 100% sure that you will not get a sunburn, it is better to suntan in the shade (i.e. under an umbrella) for the first few days.

Apply gentle moisturizing creams after every sun tanning.

It is also known that some medications can make your skin sensitive to the sunlight, for example St. John’s wort, which is sometimes used in holistic medicine for psoriasis treatment.

If you do develop sunburn, you have to stay out of the sun. Even the strongest sunscreen, cannot protect you 100% from the UV light of the sun.

Before we embark upon finding the treatment for psoriasis, it is very essential to know what is actually meant by ‘psoriasis’.

Psoriasis is an inflammatory long-term non- contagious skin disease. It is a chronic or recurring condition which can spread from a localised patch to the entire body. The exact source of psoriasis is still unknown. Occurrence of Psoriasis depends upon triggers which initiate them such as skin injury, hereditary, systemic infections, emotional stress, and many more. Most of the people who suffer from psoriasis also encounter psoriasis arthritis, which is characterized with inflammation in the joints. Symptoms of psoriasis arthritis may also include pain and stiffness, which retards with improvements in psoriasis condition.

There are namely five types of psoriasis:

Plaque psoriasis: Plaque psoriasis is one of the most common forms of psoriasis, which is marked by raised skin areas covered with silvery white scaly skin.

Guttate psoriasis: Guttate psoriasis occurs as small red spots over large areas of the body.

Pustular psoriasis: Pustular psoriasis is marked by the cycle of pustule formation.

Erythrodermic psoriasis: Erythrodermic psoriasis is characterized intense redness over large areas.

Palmar-Plantar psoriasis: Palmar-Plantar psoriasis is characterized by large pustules confined to fleshy areas.

Diagnosis for psoriasis is mostly based upon the appearance of the skin. Though, a skin biopsy or scraping may be employed in order to rule out the possibility of psoriasis.
Tazorac cream is used to treat psoriasis, acne, and symptoms of aging. It is meant for external application; therefore contact with eyes, mouth should be avoided. A thin layer of Tazorac should be applied once in a day. Similar to Soriatane, usage of Tazorac should be avoided by expectant women and women with child bearing potential.

Psoriasis is a prolonged inflammation of skin. The causes of psoriasis are still unclear. This condition is neither infectious (Do not spread from one person to another) nor does it affect the general health. It affects both the genders and may start at any age.

Psoriasis is quite common, affecting around two per cent of the population, although people with very mild symptoms may not be aware they have it. Psoriasis can begin at any age but usually starts either around the age of 20 or between 50 and 60.

Causes of Psoriasis

As said earlier according to modern medical science the causes of psoriasis are unknown .But the following factors can trigger psoriasis.

1.Heredity – If one parent is affected then there is 15% of chances for the child to suffer from psoriasis. If both the parents are affected then the possibility of child getting the psoriasis is 60%.

2.Throat infections trigger psoriasis.

3.Trauma or hurt on skin like cuts, bruises or burns may cause psoriasis.

4.Some medicines or skin irritants initiate psoriasis.

5.Smoking and alcohol are other two factors which activate psoriasis.

6.Mental stress or psychological trauma may also set off psoriasis

What does ayurveda say about psoriasis?

Psoriasis is caused by vitiation of vata and kapha dosha. The vitiated doshas affect the skin and blood tissues. They also influence water element of the affected region on skin. Thus the skin which is influenced by affected doshas becomes discolored (white or copper colored), scaly and thin.

Causes of vitiation of Doshas

1.Consuming opposite foods.

2.Controlling natural urges.

3.Exposure to severe climatic conditions

4.Consuming food that is too salty, too sour and/or too heavy for digestion.

5.Sleeping during the afternoon.

6.Taking bath in cold water immediately after physical exertion.

7.Mental stress.

Changes that occur on skin during psoriasis

It takes 27 days for skin to replace itself with new mature skin cells. But the regions of skin affected by psoriasis the skin replace itself within 3-4 days with plenty of immature skin cells forming thick psoriatic patches.

According to ayurveda principles the vitiated vata dries the water element of skin and also initiate rapid growth of skin tissue. The vitiated Kapha dosha causes itching on the affected skin. The blood which is affected by vata and kapha adversely influences healing process.

Self-care for psoriasis

•Avoid all factors which trigger psoriasis.

•Reduce stress levels through meditation and Yoga .

•Do not prick, peel or scratch skin. This may trigger psoriasis.

•After bath or wash pat dry the skin. Do not rub the towel vigorously on skin.

•Avoid soap. Instead use gram flour (besan flour) as soap dries the skin.

•After washing, pat the skin dry, don’t irritate it by rubbing vigorously.

•Apply moisturizing creams liberally on affected areas after bath.

•Opt for cotton clothes over synthetic ones.

Ayurvedic tips for Psoriasis

1.Avoid consuming opposite foods.

2.Do not control natural urges like vomiting, urination, bowel emptying etc.

3.Do not take cold water bath immediately after a heavy work out, traveling, a long walk etc.

4.Take care not to consume foods which cause indigestion.

5.Absolutely do not eat too much of salty, sour or acidic foods.

6.Avoid sleeping in afternoons.

7.Say no to radish, urad dal, sesame, jaggery (gur), curds, fish and other sour foods.

8.Always apply besan flour or herbal scrub instead of soap.

9.Smear herbal balm which is infused with vata and kapha balancing herbs.

10.Keep on applying moisturizing gels or creams continuously to maintain the moisture levels of skin.
